NeNe Leakes is now emerging as Detroit schools public enemy number one thanks to an unfulfilled promise she made to fellow Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kenya Moore. Here’s how it all went down: Leakes challenged Moore to gather up $20K for the charity of Kenya’s choice and the former beauty queen chose Detroit schools. Moore paid the hefty sum and Leakes then promised to match Kenya’s donation.
But unfortunately on this past Sunday’s edition of Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live, NeNe completely changed her tune. The former New Normal star dissed the city’s schools by saying the statue of limitations had run out on her promise.
“It was long time ago, I’ll tell you that. And the statue of limitations does run out on things…” Leakes told Cohen. “I donate when I want to. And I would need proof of that [Kenya’s donation] because she has been known to lie.”
Well, Moore did in fact; post a selfie of herself to social media holding the big payday check in hand. And the embarrassing situation has left the president of Detroit’s school district dumbfounded and confused. But despite not hearing from Leakes at all in the matter, a rep for the school district says they would still gladly accept her donation if and when NeNe ever chose to be that generous.
For a woman who’s made the phrase, “I’m a rich b****” her personal catchphrase, mantra and battlecry this story does not bode well at all.
